Interview in The Manitoban

During my undergraduate and M.A. degrees, I worked at The Manitoban, so it feels odd for them to interview me: but they have.

The interview concerns the work of writing itself, so will be of interest primarily to students and aspiring authors.

While the importance of hard work in writing is underestimated according to Ball, he believes the importance of talent is exaggerated. “The idea that you should write when you’re inspired,” he said, “that you have to have talent — talent’s great to have, and you can walk around with talent all you want, but it doesn’t mean that you will do or have done anything of value.
