Sheep’s Vigil by a Fervent Person (Eirin Moure)

If the reading habits of this blog represented the reading habits of the nation, Erin Moure would be one of the country's bestsellers and Margaret Atwood would be living in my basement, which doesn't exist. (Nothing against Atwood, I'm just saying….) Sheep's Vigil by a Fervent Person sees Erin Moure (writing as Eirin) translating the poetry of Fernando Pessoa (writing as Alberto Caeiro). Moure calls this a transelation, in that she has not translated the literal meanings of the lines, but hewn close to their spirit instead. The result is a sparkling, joyful, vivacious book, one of her best.
